Belgian Web Usability Report 2004

In 2002, AGConsult's Belgian Web Usability study showed that the majority of
Belgian web sites was not very user-friendly. The follow-up research in 2004 reveals that during these two years, Belgian
web sites have indeed become more user-friendly. But there's still
a long way to go...

Cultuurnet Vlaanderen has awarded the building of a new cultural site to Unisys
Consulting (formerly KPMG Consultants), who called on AGConsult for usability
guidance of the project. Cultuurwijzer, the new cultural web site of the Flemish
Community, will offer access to all cultural events Flanders and Brussels have
to offer. |

Renault sizes up the
competition with AGConsult's Benchmark Test (13 February, 2004)
To know how their site compares to those of their competitors' Renault Belgium
and communications agency Lowe Direct Creations asked AGConsult to carry out a
Benchmark Test. It showed Renault the strengths and weaknesses of it's own site
and those of their competitors and offered them an ideal starting point for
redesigning the site. |

for corporate and commercial sites (12 November, 2003)
200 practical tips based on research and the observation of real users. All tips
deal with frequently occurring problems on small and large corporate and
commercial web sites. The tips are based on what users perceive as elements that
stand in the way of a positive user experience. |

Best Business Site 2003 designed by AGConsult (3 November, 2003)
The brand new site of the Brussels Enterprise Agency was elected Best Business
Site of 2003 on the recent Night of the Internet. AGConsult was responsible for
the information architecture and layout structure of the site. |

BEA and BIPT turn to AGConsult for
new information structure (15 September, 2003)
An information structure that makes sense to users and an attractive interface,
that's what both the Brussels Enterprise Agency (BEA) and the Belgian Institute
for Postal Services and Telecommunication (BIPT) were looking for. Naturally,
they turned to AGConsult for advice. |

Usability of payroll-processing companies (4 June, 2003)
When HRM Net asked AGConsult to test the usability of the web
sites of Belgium's ten most important payroll-processing companies,
we didn't hesitate to cooperate. We tested the sites of Acerta,
ADMB, Groep S, HDP, Partena, SD Worx, Seco-M, Securex, Sofim and
Union des Classes Moyennes using our twenty
basic usability criteria. The 13 page report (available only in
Dutch) contains general
conclusions on the accessibility, ease of use, user experience and
practical value of the sites and a short evaluation of every site's
usability strengths and weaknesses illustrated with screenshots.

Belgian local government sites lacking in usability (7
November, 2002)
AGConsult has evaluated the usability of the official sites of 55
Belgian cities and towns. 85% of the tested sites fail on 14 or
more of the 20 basic usability criteria. Compared to the results
of our earlier research about the usability of Belgian sites in
general, the average local government site is less user-friendly
than the average commercial site.
Due to the regional and language-specific nature of the research,
our 200 tips for local government sites are only available in
Dutch and French.

New guidelines: "Writing for the web" (5 November,
2002)
No matter how user-friendly your site is, if the texts on your
site aren't well-written and inviting to read, chances are users
won't like your site very much. Our guidelines in "Writing
for the web" show you how to write and adapt texts for online

twenty sessions were booked solid within just two weeks. |
